Waste Stream Diversion
Waste Stream Diversion

Tandus Flooring is continually advancing business practices to yield solutions to meet the critical environmental challenges facing our industry. This evolution of sustainable practices is called our Infinity Initiative.

The research and development behind the Infinity Initiative led to the introduction of the industry’s first closed loop recycling program in 1994. Since then, we have reclaimed and recycled more than 215 million pounds of flooring and manufacturing waste, which includes that of our competitors.

Tandus Flooring truly recycles for the industry with more than 60 percent of product reclaimed and recycled is not original Tandus Flooring product. Floor products produced through our reclamation and recycling process are identified as ER3® products

ER3®

ER3 is a 98% recycled content cushion construction for Powerbond®, a hybrid resilient sheet flooring, and a 100% recycled content backing which comes standard on our modular styles. The uninterrupted recycling process produces over eight million square feet of ER3 products annually, making Tandus Flooring the largest producer of recycled flooring in the industry.

Center for Environmental Innovation

Our recycling process takes place in the Tandus Flooring Center for Environmental Innovation. Opened in 1999, the Center for Environmental Innovation is more than a half-million square feet making it one of the largest facilities dedicated to recycling in the world. In 2010, the Center became the world’s first reclamation and recycling facility to receive third-party certification.
